Loft con Vista
Italy
The project allows the transformation of a courtyard and an abandoned factory into a loft with garden. The intervention on the ex-industrial warehouse is closely linked to the spatial structure of the building and aims to create a garden in a large part of its original surface. The transformations are guided by the intention to preserve the characteristics of the building as well as its urban presence, which marks the landscape of the street and defines a background for the public space.
In the first two spans of the existing building, the roof structure is demolished, leaving the wall box intact. The space thus obtained, now an open-plan layout, is intended as a garden and the remaining walls define its limits. The third span, while maintaining the roof structure, is redefined with an open canopy. This space provides an extension to the garden previously mentioned, sheltered from bad weather. In the latter span, the internal spaces are used as a loft living space.

The large glass facade connected with an old span of the factory opens towards the garden. The living space is in direct contact with the garden’s green extension which is an integral part of the interior space and vice versa.
