Maison du Lac des Îles
Québec, Canada
The Lac des Îles house was designed for a couple wishing to live in a calm environment, in contrast to that of hectic professional life in the city. Perched atop a rocky cape, the house overlooks the lake. The location chosen for the location of the building has a slight slope, just before the steep cliff overlooking the lake. The orientation of the main body of the house, perpendicular to the slope and to a deep panorama of the lake, provides a breathtaking view of the landscape, along the entire length of the building.
With A. Vallières
Two volumes characterize the composition of the house. The first constitutes a real wall which cuts through the landscape and separates the site in two. This wall is pierced by a "window on the landscape" which leads to the entrance and also covers an exterior extension of the house. The second, single-story volume contains the living areas of the home.
