A bus shelter is a small, habitable, reproducible, and protective cell that can accommodate a large number of people who take it over for a moment. This comfortable and flexible space meets the needs of occasional users. Whether it is protection, security, comfort, or even a source of information: the benefits of a bus shelter are manifold. In the AbriLUX project, the generic bus shelter program is subcategorized in the form of independent modules, each fulfilling a specific function.
AbriLUX is flexible depending on its use and location. The modules are made of high-performance concrete, are easily reproducible, and very resistant. From the suburbs to the central districts, the combinations of modules suit the type of environment. In a very dense and busy area, the modules add up to constitute a shelter adapted to the context.
Sitting, standing up, or leaning, the shelter can accommodate all postures, whether it is for a 2-minute morning wait in the sun or a 15-minute wait in the afternoon rain. First designed as a shelter from the weather, it also becomes an urban place of rest, meeting, and exchange.
